Prayers for the Community

We have added a number of prayers to help you if want to pray for the Coronavirus situation in general, or have a specific need:-

“A Daily Prayer of Hope”

Father God help me as I try to cope with each day and help me to look in hope to the future.
I pray for all those struggling with isolation, sickness, or are fighting coronavirus, that you will be with them and help them.
I pray for peace and comfort for those who have lost loved ones and are grieving and broken hearted.
I pray for medical staff and all frontline workers, for their protection and that they will be sustained physically, emotionally and spiritually in the coming weeks and that God will be their shield and strength.
I pray for all those leading the scientific response to COVID-19 that they will have breakthroughs in developing a vaccine and treatments.
I remember those who lead our country, that they will seek the wisdom of God as they make decisions over the coming weeks.
I pray for protection over myself, my family and my friends and that I may be aware of the needs of others and support them as best I can.
Amen

“Prayer for a friend lost”

Dear God,
Today I say goodbye to (dear friend/family member/ “name” ),
Help me for this moment to focus on them,
Let me remember the fun times we had together,
When we laughed and when we cried
When we danced and sang,
When we joked and smiled,
Let me see my friend’s face as I focus on them now, in those joyful times
(it would be good to pause and think on these time)

Let me hold those memories close to my heart, from now and for always,
When I hear their name in the coming months and years
Let me always smile, as I carry the joyful memory of them in my heart
Let your peace be upon them and their family and friends
Protect those who loved name, over the coming weeks
Let their burden of grief lighten but never their love and memories of name
Amen

“A Prayer for Others “

Lord, at this unsettling time, we pray for your mercy across this nation and the world.
Continue to give wisdom to the government and health experts, so they can advise us about the best action we can take. Please give NHS staff and other frontline workers the daily strength they need to endure through this difficult time. Help each one of us to act responsibly, to help others and to keep our eyes fixed on you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

“The Prayer that Jesus taught us (The Lord’s Prayer)”

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
